The Starfish Story

Our tutoring center bears a name deeply rooted in meaning – Starfish. The name is derived from a poignant poem adapted from “The Star Thrower” by Loren Eiseley, which Kaegan, founder and director, discovered during the first year of her teaching career.
Throughout her journey, there were days when Kaegan felt the weight of exhaustion and defeat. Yet, in those challenging moments, she found solace in the words of the poem. It reminded her that she might not be able to reach every single student, but she held steadfast to the belief that every effort she made to the students in her class “mattered to this one”.
Over a decade later, her dream of founding a microschool co-op called Starfish came true.
Today, the realization of Kaegan's dream shines brightly within the walls of Starfish Holistic Learning. Each day, she brings the essence of the inspiring poem to life.
